Two Surprise Guests From Across Nintendo
Donkey Kong doesn’t have Seth Rogen’s voice this time, but the appearance is pure fan service in the best sense. As Yoshi cuts through New York City, DK is up on an unfinished skyscraper tossing barrels and causing mayhem, grinning the whole way through. A direct callback to his first-ever appearance, and a strong argument for a solo film.

Fox McCloud is the wildcard. A Star Fox character crossing over into the Mario universe requires some explaining, and the film handles it briskly before moving on. His piloting is the focus — ground combat is teased but kept deliberately vague, a setup for something bigger. Whether that’s a standalone project or a future Smash Bros. ensemble, the door is wide open.
