The Claim That Lit Up the Internet

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt took to Fox News this week to defend President Trump’s handling of nuclear negotiations with Iran — and somewhere in the middle of that, she said something that stopped a lot of people mid-scroll.

Trump, she insisted, is a man of his word. Always has been. The media just refuses to understand it.

“When he makes a promise, he follows through on it,” Leavitt said, her voice rising with conviction. “And I’m not sure why, after 10 years of covering this president, the American media still cannot understand when President Trump says he’s going to do something, he’s going to do it.”

What She Was Actually Defending

The Fox News appearance came after reporters pressed the administration on a widening gap between Trump’s public optimism about Iran and what diplomats and intelligence officials were saying privately. Leavitt dismissed those reports without hesitation.

“It’s all a bunch of nonsense. They are rooting against this president and therefore our country, and it’s really despicable to watch.”

She added that if talks collapse, Trump is “unafraid” to use other options — and that he “does not bluff.” The administration, she said, is “on the brink of a deal.”
