The Brow Artist Who Got a Music Lesson

Her client was at least 70. The eyebrows were practically gone. Fine — restoration mode it was. House music thumped from the speaker while the brow artist got to work. Then she noticed the old woman’s foot. Tapping. Dead on the beat. Hand resting on her knee, keeping perfect time.

She asked if she liked the music. “Oh yes,” the woman said. “Very playful.” They ended up talking for the whole session — the songs she used to dance to, the boys she and her girlfriends chased after. At some point the artist forgot she was talking to an old woman at all. She was just talking to a girl. One who had seen more, lived longer, and had better stories.

Animals Are Just Coworkers Now

One woman runs a dog sled operation with 50 dogs. She knows every single name. Another person logged their first work-from-home day and found Waffles the cat and Dennis the dog had already installed themselves as productivity consultants.

At a vet clinic, a man arrived with a rooster in a carrier and calmly asked whether its temperament could be adjusted. The vet paused. “In what way?” Pecking at everyone, the man said. “He’s a rooster,” the vet replied. The man just stared. They held eye contact for roughly two minutes before the rooster was examined, declared healthy, and carried back out the door. The staff laughed for the rest of the week.
