CURIOSITYPlanet She-Hulk Is Over and Nobody Saw It Coming3 min read

The Collapse of Marvel’s Cosmic Gamble
The Imperial line was Marvel’s big swing. Unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con in 2025, it was framed as a new cosmic order — a publishing initiative that would reshape how Marvel told its space-based stories. Planet She-Hulk was one of the flagship titles in that first wave, alongside Nova Centurion, Black Panther: Intergalactic, Exiles, and Imperial Guardians.
Low sales and soft preorder numbers appear to be doing the damage. The entire line is pulling back, and Planet She-Hulk is collateral. Phillips was careful not to throw anyone under the bus: “There have been some changes to the entire Imperial line. Unfortunately, Planet She-Hulk falls under the Imperial line, and we are impacted by that as well.”

What Issue Six Has to Carry
Marvel’s own solicitation for the final issue lays out the stakes Phillips built across five issues: will She-Hulk seize the throne to save Sakaar from itself, or get hurled back into the fighting pits in disgrace? One issue to land a conclusion that was designed for an open run. That’s a brutal writing assignment.
Phillips says she loves how issue #6 turned out. Writers don’t always get to say that. Some cancellations leave creators with nothing but an inventory issue cobbled together on a deadline. This sounds like she made something real out of what she had left.
